17th November 2004 ScreenFX working with BT to accelerate network development
Screen FX plc, which offers digital screen advertising in shopping centres across the UK, today announces that it has entered into a three year agreement with BT Broadcast Services. This important agreement, which recognises ScreenFX's business proposition and status as one of the UK's leading digital advertising brands, will enable Screen FX to accelerate the next phase of its network development in UK shopping malls.
As part of the agreement, BT Broadcast Services will help develop, implement and manage the roll-out of Screen FX's digital media across a number of major shopping malls. Screen FX will also benefit from BT's technological expertise in platform technology and experience of developing large complex networks for corporates. In the last few years, BT Broadcast Services has provided large scale networking services to companies such as Barclays, Visa and Siemens.
In the medium term, BT Broadcast Services and Screen FX anticipate future joint initiatives linked to emerging technologies that will further enhance Screen FX's "out of home" proposition to landlords, property owners, major advertisers and the end consumer.
Within seven months of listing on AIM, Screen FX has completed the installation of its initial network of 118 plasma screens in eight of the UK's major shopping centres, including MetroCentre, Gateshead and Lakeside, Thurrock. It is currently in negotiations to install screens in another seven leading shopping centres and plans to expand its network to 30 centres by the end of 2005, firmly establishing its position as the leader in the UK "out of home" digital media marketplace.Screen FX's advertising proposition has already received widespread acceptance and support from the UK's leading media buyers and national advertisers.
Following an intense period of marketing by Screen FX, corporates are now beginning to accommodate digital screen advertising into their media buying plans. Screen FX has received firm commitments from advertisers such as Samsung, Vodafone and Warner Bros, which demonstrates both the growing acceptance of the out of home digital advertising medium in the UK and the growing status of the Screen FX brand. The potential benefits of Screen FX's network of screens to advertisers was highlighted by research undertaken by IPSOS-RSL Limited, a specialist media and audience research organisation, which demonstrated to advertisers that Screen FX delivers a very valuable audience to advertisers with high levels of awareness of the screens and their content.
Dave Clark, Chief Executive Officer of Screen FX, said:
"Today's announcement is a significant milestone in our development. We are delighted that BT Broadcast Services has decided to work with us in the roll-out and maintenance of our digital screen media network, and we will benefit hugely from their technological expertise and substantial infrastructure. We believe this is an important step in the development of Screen FX and the wider outdoor digital advertising market".
Brian Boakes, Head of Corporate Channels for BT Broadcast Services adds:
"There is definitely a meeting of minds between ScreenFX and BT Broadcast Services. We have been very impressed with the way that ScreenFX have approached the 'out of home' advertising market. Working with IPSOS, they have analysed each stage of the customer's journey to identify the most appropriate touch points and subsequently developed location specific content strategies to enhance the consumer's experience, ultimately creating more value to the estate owner and incumbent retailers".
